Frequently Asked Questions:

Q:I would like to eat healthier. Do you offer whole wheat rices and pastas?
A: Yes we do! We can switch out any of your rices and pastas to whole wheat for a small fee of $0.50 per 2-3 serving size meal and $1.00 per 4-6 serving size meal. Just let us know which meals you would like to switch and we can do that for you. If you are coming in for a session, just let us know before you leave. If you are picking up meals, either let us know in the comment section when you are placing your order or when you come to get your meals.

Q: This sounds too good to be true. Can I really make twelve meals in two hours?
A: Yes you can! We've done all the chopping, slicing, grating, and other time consuming steps. Within minutes, you simply assemble each of your dishes according to your family's taste.

Q: I don't consider myself a cook. Can I do this?
A: Sure you can! In addition to doing all the preparation, we provide simple step-by-step instructions. If you can scoop and stir, you can do this. If you're still not convinced, we're happy to demonstrate techniques and answer any questions you may have. Just look for one of our staff in the black aprons.

Q: Do I have to bring anything to a session?
A: You'll need to bring a cooler, or a laundry basket or an insulated bag to carry home your dinners. We provide all the meal storage containers you'll need.

Q: We hate (we love) mushrooms or spicy food. Can I adjust the recipes?
A: Absolutely! One of the beauties of Simply Supper is that everything can be customized. Start with our Family-Tested, Family-Approved recipes and make them your own. If you want, add a little more of this or less of that. We have created recipes that are mildly spicy and we will let you know if something varies from our standard spice level. And remember, our staff is always available to assist and give suggestions.

Q: A couple of this month's offerings sound really good, Can I get two of these?
A: Yes. Feel free to pick at the max four of your family favourites.

Q: Can I split the 2-3 serving size meals into single servings?
A: Unfortunately no. All of our cooking instructions are tested for 2-3 or 4-6 servings. Many meals would result in being overcooked or even burnt if made into smaller servings. As well all of our packaging and meat are portioned out ahead of time and it is very time consuming and messy to do any sort of splitting in-store.

Q: How can I possibly fit all this food in my freezer?
A: It's not hard. Before you come to Simply Supper, take a few minutes to clean out your freezer - you're never going to use that mystery meat anyway. Your dinners will be stored in freezer friendly containers like Ziploc bags and foil packets, and youi'll be surprised how much you can fit on one shelf in your freezer. Also, place several dinners in the refrigerator right away to use that week.

Q: Will I save or spend more on food using Simply Supper?
A: You'll save! Customers tell us they spend less money using Simply Supper. They make fewer trips to the grocery store, fewer impulse purchases, and fewer stops for fast food. They also experience less food spoilage, not to mention the waste of buying a jar of this or a can of that just to add one tablespoon of an ingredient to a recipe. So, in addition to saving time, you will save money!

Q: Can I bring my kids or someone to help with them?
A: As long as your children are 12 or older and want to be here they are more than welcome. We consider the assembly schedule to be a chance for you to enjoy a little adult interaction, so to make things more convenient for you, we've intentionally scheduled our daytime sessions to coincide with school and pre-school hours

Q: My family has food allergies. Can I still come to Simply Supper?
A: Yes, but be sure to inform us of any allergies at registration time. All ingredient labels are available for you to review in the store before or during your session, and we will assist you with substitutions or changes to recipes as needed. Please be aware that common food allergens such as milk and nuts are used in some of our recipes and will be present during most sessions. Most of our meals can also be made gluten-free. Please make sure to contact us ahead of time to discuss substitute ingredients that you may have to bring in.

Q: How do you practice food safety at Simply Supper workshops?
A: With great care! All of our workers have been trained in food safety; we follow our Health Department's recommendations and practice all FoodSafe commitments. Each station is used for only one food type and all items are thoroughly sanitized after each cooking session. Hand washing is required before the session, after coughing or sneezing, after using the restroom, and between stations. All safety issues will be reviewed with you at the beginning of each session. Your safety and the safety of your families is VERY important to us!

Q:What if I want an extra meal or two than are offered in your standard 6 or 12 meal packages?
A: Not a problem. We charge an additional $16.00 per 2-3 serving size meal and $27.50 per 4-6 serving size meal. Please indicate if you would like extra meals when booking online (in the comment section) or to our staff when you phone in the order. You may also split the 12 (4-6) serving size meals into 24 (2-3) meals. If you are planning on doing this please let us know in advance so that we can prepare your meat and packaging for you in this format. We do charge $10 for the extra packaging to split 12 meals into 24 meals. Please note that we do need to know if you are going to do this in advance, we cannot accommodate this request once you are in the store for a session.

Q:What if I can't make it to my scheduled session?
A: If you give us 4 days notice we can provide a full refund or reschedule your session. Any later than that and we have already committed to purchasing all of the ingredients for your meals so we cannot offer a refund. However, we will make your meals for you and charge the additional pick-up fee when you come to collect your meals?
